If you're wondering why I'm doing this, read on.
I want to create a movement. A space that's uniquely ours. A place for me to flourish musically, and consequently, a place for you to revel in. I am nowhere near the first to do this, but I want to be the next.
You know the music you know because it was handed to you. Streaming services are just like radio was not long ago—a pay to play platform owned by big corporations. We're all subject to this type of social engineering, but I want to break out of it.
The promise of the internet was the freedom to choose. Instead, we've all been captured by algorithms which influence our behavior. But we can remove that stranglehold.
I want to perpetuate an energy that only great music can. One that overcomes the simplicity and thoughtlessness of attention capture economics.
Like some of the greats that came before me, I'd want to continue to enlighten audiences, year after year, with deep, alluring songwriting, occasionally supported by the beautiful instrumentation of a band. I want to draw songs and performances out differently each time, so you can bask in every aspect of them. I want people to show up again and again, because my music creates the perfect environment for us.
I do not seek to walk in the footsteps of the greats; I seek what they sought.
But I can't do it without you.
Without your bet, your investment, your belief—however you look at it. Without a moment of your time to check if this is a place you'd want to be. I think it is, but you need to think that, too.
